Buildup does not respond to more time on the normal list
The things a deep clean targets are not things a standard clean does badly. They are things a standard clean does not do at all.
Household grime accumulates in a small number of predictable places, and it accumulates slowly enough that you stop seeing it. The greasy film that settles on cabinet fronts above a cooktop. The grey line where baseboard meets carpet. Mineral scale where a faucet meets the counter. The ridge of dust on the leading edge of a ceiling fan blade. Soap scum on shower glass that has become part of the glass.
None of those come off during a maintenance visit, because a maintenance visit is a wipe and these need scrubbing, dwell time and in some cases a completely different approach. Doubling the length of a standard clean would not fix them either. They need to be on the list.
The good news is that a deep clean is usually a one-off. Clear the backlog once and a standing standard schedule keeps it cleared, which is why so many first bookings are a deep clean followed by recurring service.

Inside the oven and inside the refrigerator are not automatically part of a deep clean. Both are available, and both need to be requested when you book so the visit is scheduled with the time they take.
How long a deep clean takes
Roughly twice a standard visit is the honest rule of thumb. For a typical three-bedroom, two-bathroom home, a first deep clean tends to run in the region of five to seven hours.
For larger homes — say above three and a half thousand square feet, or with four or more bathrooms — we schedule a larger team rather than a longer day. Stretching two people across ten hours produces a worse result at the end than it does at the start, and nobody wants the last bathroom cleaned by someone who has been on their feet since morning.
Bathrooms drive the number more than floor area does. Each one is a fixed block of detailed wet work: grout, glass, fixtures, tile, fan cover, vanity interior. Four bathrooms in a modest house will take longer than two bathrooms in a large one.

What a deep clean cannot fix
Cleaning removes what has settled on a surface. It does not restore a surface that has been damaged, and being straight about that up front saves disappointment on the day.
- Etching in stone or scratched glass — that is damage, not soil.
- Grout that is permanently stained rather than dirty. Color-sealing is a specialist job.
- Carpet stains that have set. Extraction and shampooing are a separate trade we do not carry equipment for.
- Worn or peeling finish on floors, cabinets or bathtubs.
- Smoke or pet odour bound into carpet padding or drywall.

The decision worth making on the day of the deep clean, not three months later, is what happens next. A house that has just been reset is the cheapest house in the world to maintain, and the most expensive to let slide again.
Most people move onto a biweekly standard schedule at that point. Weekly suits larger households, pets that shed, and anyone who wants the house to look the same on Friday as it did on Monday. Monthly works for smaller or quieter households, though it is worth knowing that a monthly rhythm drifts further between visits and some customers pair it with a deep clean once or twice a year.

Questions about deep cleaning
- Do I need a deep clean before starting a recurring schedule?
Not always. If the house has been maintained — by you, or by a previous cleaner — a standard clean is the right starting point and you can skip straight to the schedule.
If it has not, the first standard visit will improve things a lot and still leave the deep list untouched, and the second visit will not get to it either. In that case the deep clean is the cheaper route, not the more expensive one.
- Is a deep clean the same as a move-out clean?
They overlap but they are scoped for different situations. A deep clean is for a furnished, occupied home. A move-out clean is for an empty one and includes inside cabinets, drawers, closets and appliances, because those are reachable and expected when nothing is in them.

- How often should a house have a deep clean?
For a home on a weekly or biweekly standard schedule, often never again after the first one — the schedule keeps the buildup from returning.
For a home on a monthly schedule or no schedule at all, once or twice a year is a reasonable rhythm.
- Can you deep clean just the kitchen and bathrooms?
Yes, and it is a sensible way to spend the money if those are the rooms carrying the problem. Say so when you book so the visit is scoped and timed for that rather than the whole house.
- Will you clean inside the oven and refrigerator?
Both are available and both need to be requested in advance. They are genuinely time-consuming, so the visit has to be scheduled with room for them rather than fitted in on the day.
- Should I be home for a deep clean?
It helps for the first thirty minutes so you can point out anything specific, but it is not required. Plenty of deep cleans happen while people are at work.
