Timing
How long does a deep cleaning take?
Roughly twice a standard visit, and for a typical three-bedroom two-bathroom home that lands somewhere around five to seven hours. What moves it is not the number you would expect.

The number, and what it is made of
A first deep clean on a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house typically runs in the region of five to seven hours. That is a real range rather than a hedge, and the spread inside it is mostly condition.
A house at the lower end has been maintained and is getting a deep clean as a reset. A house at the upper end has not had a proper clean in a long time and the team is genuinely removing years of accumulation from grout, glass and cabinet fronts.
Beyond three bathrooms or three and a half thousand square feet, we schedule a larger team rather than a longer day. That is not a marketing preference — the quality at hour nine is measurably not the quality at hour two, and the last bathroom deserves the same attention as the first.
What moves the hours, in order
| Factor | Effect on time | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Bathroom count | Largest | Each bathroom is a fixed block: grout, glass, tile, fixtures, fan cover, vanity interior. |
| Condition | Very large | Removing five years of buildup is a different task from removing five months. |
| Kitchen size and cabinetry | Large | Cabinet fronts washed full height is linear work — more frontage, more time. |
| Total floor area | Moderate | Matters for floors and dusting, much less than people assume. |
| Clutter on surfaces | Moderate and avoidable | Every surface cleared first is effectively cleaned twice. |
| Add-ons requested | Specific | Inside the oven and inside the refrigerator each add a real block of time. |
Four bathrooms in a modest house takes longer than two bathrooms in a large one. If you take one thing from this page, that is it.
How the hours are spent
Roughly the order a team works, which is also roughly the order of effort.
- Step 1
Bathrooms first
Product goes on grout, glass and fixtures early so it has dwell time to work while other things happen. Coming back to it is more efficient than standing over it.
- Step 2
Kitchen next
Cabinet fronts, backsplash, appliance detail and toe kicks. Also a dwell-time job — degreaser needs a minute, not a scrub.
- Step 3
Whole-house detail
Baseboards, frames, fans, fixtures, returns, tracks. This is the long, methodical middle of the visit and the part that looks like nothing is happening.
- Step 4
Floors last
Everything above sheds onto the floor, so floors are finished at the end, edges and corners hand-detailed rather than run past.
Planning your day around it
A few practical things that make a long visit easier for everyone.
- You do not need to be home the whole time. Most people are there for the first half hour to point things out, then leave.
- Clear surfaces the night before. It is the single biggest lever you have on the length of the visit.
- Plan for pets. A whole-day visit with people moving between rooms is more disruptive to an anxious animal than a two-hour one.
- Expect the house to be in pieces mid-visit. Cushions off sofas, small appliances moved, mats up. That is what progress looks like.
- Do not schedule anything in the house that day. Deliveries, trades and viewings all cost time the visit needs.
Timing questions
- Can you do it faster with more people?
To a point, and that is exactly what we do on larger homes. Beyond a certain team size people start working around each other, so the gain flattens. For most homes a two or three-person team is the efficient shape.
- Can a deep clean be split across two days?
It can, and occasionally it is the right answer for a very large property. It costs slightly more overall because of the second mobilisation, and it means living in a half-deep-cleaned house overnight.
- How long does a standard clean take by comparison?
Around half. A maintenance visit on a well-kept three-bedroom, two-bathroom home usually runs a couple of hours with a two-person team.
- Will the first visit always be the longest?
Almost always, yes, whichever service you book. The team is clearing whatever accumulated before and learning the house at the same time. It settles from the second visit on.
- What if it takes longer than expected?
The price you agreed is the price. Work is quoted per job rather than per hour, so a house that turns out to need more time does not turn into a bigger bill on the day.
