The Colony
House cleaning in The Colony, TX
The Colony is the newest housing stock we clean regularly, and newer houses change the job in ways people do not expect — usually for the better, occasionally not.

How we work
Bonded and insured
Insurance covers accidental damage; the bond covers theft. A certificate is available on request.
Background-checked, vetted cleaners
Every cleaner is vetted and background checked before a first visit.
Professionally trained teams
Teams work to the Hygiene Maids method rather than a personal routine, so visits stay consistent.
Satisfaction guarantee
If an area is not right, tell us and we put it right.
24-hour re-clean policy
Report a missed area within 24 hours and we come back to redo it at no extra charge.
What newer houses change
A ten-year-old house has almost none of the buildup an older one accumulates, and that shifts what a cleaning visit is actually for.
There is generally no hard-water history on glass, no years of grease film on cabinet fronts above the cooktop, no grout carrying a decade of traffic. That means a standard clean is very often the right first booking here, where in an older neighborhood a deep clean frequently is not optional.
What newer homes do have is more open-plan floor area, more hard flooring, larger windows, and often a two-story layout with bathrooms upstairs and down. Open plan means one long uninterrupted floor run rather than several small ones. Big windows mean sills and tracks that show everything. Two stories means equipment moving between levels.
There is also a specific new-build issue: a house finished recently can still be shedding construction dust from tracks, vents and the tops of door frames long after the builders have gone. If your home is genuinely new, that is a post-construction problem rather than a cleaning one.
Just moved into a new build?
Builder clean-ups are done to a construction standard, not a living standard, and fine dust keeps settling for days after the trades leave. If you are still finding grit on window tracks, on top of door frames or in vents weeks after moving in, that is construction dust rather than household dust, and it needs a post-construction pass rather than a deep clean.
- Window tracks and sills carry it longest.
- Vents and returns redistribute it every time the HVAC runs.
- Door frame tops and cabinet tops hold it out of sight.
- It takes more than one pass, whoever does it.

Open plan, hard floors and two stories
The three structural features of newer homes here all point the same direction: floors matter more than they used to, and dusting matters slightly less.
- Open-plan living means one continuous floor run across kitchen, dining and living. It cleans efficiently, but it also shows a missed section immediately.
- Hard flooring throughout is faster than carpet but less forgiving. Grit is abrasive on a hard floor, so consistent vacuuming before mopping matters for the floor itself, not just for appearance.
- Large windows and sliding doors mean tracks and sills that collect North Texas dust continuously. Those are on the deep clean list and are worth adding periodically.
- Two-story layouts mean equipment carried between levels and bathrooms on both floors. The bathroom count is what drives the visit length.
- Newer kitchens tend to have more cabinet frontage and larger islands, which is more linear surface than the square footage suggests.
Cleaning in The Colony
- Do you cover all of The Colony?
Yes. It sits directly north of Carrollton and is inside our normal working area.
- Our house is two years old. Do we need a deep clean first?
Usually not. A house that new and reasonably maintained is exactly what standard cleaning is scoped for, and you can go straight onto a schedule.
The exception is window tracks, vents and door frame tops, which can still hold construction dust from the build. Mention it at booking and we will look.
- What about the hard floors?
Vacuumed first, then mopped with a product suited to the surface. Tell us what you have — engineered wood, luxury vinyl and tile all want something different, and using the wrong thing repeatedly damages a floor.
- We are moving in next month. What should we book?
Move-in cleaning, scheduled for after you get keys and before the truck arrives. It is the only time the cabinet, drawer and closet interiors are reachable.
- Do you clean the retail units at the shopping district?
Yes. Storefront and retail cleaning is scoped around trading hours, either before opening or after close, and center management access rules are handled at the walkthrough.
